OUr Vision

WE EXPERIENCE AND EXPRESS THE GLORY OF CHRIST

by nurturing gospel curiosity so that we (the doubter, the committed and the wounded) can discover who we truly are in Christ and rightly worship Him in awe and wonder according to His Word.

WE EXPERIENCE AND EXPRESS THE LOVE OF CHRIST

by living in gospel community with one another (man, woman and child) as God’s family and eagerly inviting our friends to share in all the good things we have in Christ.

WE EXPERIENCE AND EXPRESS THE BEAUTY OF CHRIST

by encouraging gospel generosity in every area of our lives and creatively investing in our community for Christ beginning in Lexington to the ends of the earth.

Our Name

The Watershed Fellowship takes its name from an illustration made by the late author and founder of L'Abri, Francis Schaeffer.  In 1984, Schaeffer wrote about how seemingly small differences in the way we think and live can result in drastically different outcomes.  He likened these differences to a watershed.  Schaeffer noted that a small difference in the flowing of waters from a mountain near his home in Switzerland divided the waters to either the chilling North Sea or the warm waters of Lake Geneva.

We desire to be a community of small differences that have a lasting impact.  Seeker, cynic and believer alike are welcome and encouraged to enter into the conversation - to join in the journey toward what matters most.  Just as Jesus was and continues to be patient with those who earnestly seek after truth, we want to demonstrate the same love and attentiveness.  God promises to bring to completion what he begins in us and to give us His joy along the way.  With eager expectation, we look forward to the watershed moments God has in store for us.

FOUR VENUES

We are committed to experiencing and expressing the glory, love, and beauty of Christ together through our four venues: Gatherings, Convos, Crews, and Community Investments.

GATHERINGS

We gather together for worship on Sundays. Our gatherings are Christ-centered, casual and child- friendly. You can expect to grab a cup of coffee, to be welcomed and shown around, to hear about upcoming opportunities, to be taught from God’s Word, a safe kids’ ministry, to sing historic hymns and modern songs, to join in prayer for each other and share in the sacraments of baptism and communion. We know it is scary to walk into a new place with new people, so we will try to help you feel at home. One thing we encourage visitors to do is to come multiple times so you can get to know us and for us to get to know you.

CONVOS

We meet together in conversations throughout the week to encourage each other about what matters most in life. Our Convos look different to meet the various needs of our church family. While some are coed, others are for just men or women or teens. Some are for beginners and others are more in depth. Some meet over a meal and some over a beer. But there is one shared purpose to all our Convos and that is to love each other in the gospel around the Word of God.

CREWS

We serve one another as a church family through our Crews. God has given each of us gifts, talents, experiences and passions. We want everyone to have a place to serve and express their passions and spiritual gifts. Our desire is to flip the 20/80 rule so that 80% of the people are serving rather than just 20%. Our Crews oversee Communication, Convos, Hospitality, Kids, Logistics, Missions, Justice & Mercy, Strategy, Teens and Worship. Developing great Crews is the heart of our equipping ministry.

Community Investments

Lexington is such a great town to live in and a wonderful place to make kingdom investments. Watershed encourages community creativity and renewal in the arts, athletics, politics, business, education, medical, leisure and pretty much every aspect of life. We look to be culture makers and servants along with all those who invest our community for the glory of Christ.
